Welcome to SOFTENING SCHOOL! A twelve months. Softening your body, mind and spirit with other folks doing this sacred work.

Gentle work is a thing to approach with reverence, maybe even a little fear. GENTLE MOVES MOUNTAINS. Gentle work is a curl of steam the rises through your body, going where it’s needed and not necessarily where you asked it to. It’s unpredictable and can touch the deepest release valves in the body, ones we didn’t know existed. This can lead us to tiny bits of work that keep us up all night throwing up, and can also be this mysterious things where years of trauma or body pains lift in an afternoon. I’ve seen it. I’ve seen people touch this work and within a few months reach out to tell me about divorces, quit jobs, big moves, family reconciliations or deeper boundaries.

This work takes guts. I want to invite the bravery that it takes to step into something that might be a little uncomfortable initially, but has the potential to be deeply transformational. But heres the thing: it is almost impossible to do gentle work alone. Safety requires community.

Who should do this?

If you are committed to healing the intergenerational wounds that you’ve been dealt, you’re in the right place. If the idea of being the most emotionally mature version of yourself turns you on, you’re in the right place.

A few years ago, as I was first dreaming up this work, I asked to interview anyone who had experienced what they considered a “chaotic childhood”. Those felt like the right code words to find “us”, adults who are often doing fine enough on the outside, but can quietly struggle inside their own head.

I fielded lots of responses and had deep conversations with about eight people. What struck me was how similar our inner struggles were. Everyone was so unique, and in such different situations and stages of life, but our inner worlds were full of similarities. Dark thoughts, deep mistrusts of our own intuition, pain around belonging, and harsh inner critics to name a few things.

If you see yourself in what I’m talking about, and also know that growing a kinder, more loving and accepting inner world is essential for collective healing, you’re in the right place.

And a few caveats:

This is not for your if you’re okay with the status quo and don’t already or desire to say LAND BACK or FREE PALESTINE with your full chest. It’s okay if you are in the process of unlearning, but it’s essential that you care.

If you are committed to avoiding any emotional or physical discomfort. These practices and these twelve months will give you ample opportunities to reveal what you’ve been repressing. If you are a hard pass, you will honestly hate this group.

If you are not open to the belief that our bodies are always working in our favor. It’s okay if you’re skeptical, but if you can’t come with an open mind and heart this will be a challenging year. I won’t be able to collude with your stories that you or your body is bad.

What is Softening School?

It is a live, twelve-month, group program to release the grip of complex trauma by focusing on reminding the body’s natural urges to wake up again. The focus is on softening the body so that the mind is able to finally rest and be open to new ways of interacting. When you join you will be enrolled for the next twelve months, a full year from when you start.

  • Monthly Office Hours - I’m so excited about these. I am insatiable when it comes to learning about healing and in these calls I’ll get to share with you new practices and teachings that come from many different modalities and traditions. Once a month I’ll teach new practices or ways of deepening the foundations and answer questions and troubleshoot. 3rd Thursdays 2-3pm PT Zoom

  • Monthly co-embodiment sessions where we jump on Zoom and do our own practices. Screen on or off, minimal talking if any. It’s a space to come together and be in community while doing our own work. Like going to the gym or reading at a library, the work is yours but the energetic power of the community helps you stay focused.

  • My energetic holding of your deepest healing. You stepping into this means that we are in this together. You’ll see my family on calls. You’ll be on the receiving end of my deep love for you and this work.
